Cercar la Voce - On the trail of the human voice
Anaïs Chen, violin
Johannes Keller, harpsichord
In this CD album they succeed in an exciting search for traces of the primal human in music: the fingerprints of vocal influences that can be traced and deciphered in the most diverse forms and manifestations in the instrumental music of the 16th and 17th centuries. The focus is on works by well-known and lesser-known composers, whose differences in vocal thinking create an extremely multifaceted overall picture.
The CD comes in a classy, elaborately designed digipack, with a 44-page booklet containing numerous photos and highly informative texts in German and English.
The two young Basel artists, Anaïs Chen (violin) and Johannes Keller (harpsichord), have been touring internationally as a duo for several years and have been awarded the "2010 promising young ensemble" prize by the IYAP, among others.
As specialists in their field in historical performance practice, they are always concerned with the new exploration of old masterpieces, to hear and discover them anew, while at the same time questioning the playing styles without leaving the ground of the historical context.
